Scrap Metal Sounds Great and Saves Lives

ABC Recycling is sponsoring, in part, the wildly energetic and unique Earth Day performances of ScrapArtsMusic at the Stanley Industrial Alliance Theatre on Thursday April 22, 2010 and on Friday April 23, 2010. The concert features 145+ hand-built sculptural instruments, all made from material salvaged from construction sites and scrap metal yards. Gregory Kozak, a percussion virtuoso with a talent for welding, a commitment to recycling and energy to burn, and Justine Murdy, a designer with a passion for spectacle and a head for making things happen are the heart and soul of ScrapArtsMusic. The intricate rhythms, raw energy and athletic choreography of this exciting band embodies the hottest, most inventive reuse of metal materials in music today. The band, seen recently at the Closing Ceremonies of the Vancouver Olympics, and en route to concerts in Seoul Korea, is presenting a not-to-be-missed concert. Visit www.scrapartsmusic.com

ABC Recycling has also recently partnered with The Kidney Foundation of Canada to develop Kidney Metals, a new program designed to make a positive impact on the environment as well as on the bottom line of The Kidney Foundation. Kidney Metals, which is the cornerstone of the Foundation’s Recycle for Life Program offers businesses and households the opportunity to donate their scrap metal to The Kidney Foundation in return for a tax receipt. Whether it’s an old BBQ, a rusty bicycle or even the kitchen sink, old scrap metal can save lives. Representatives from The Kidney Foundation will be at the concert with information on the newly developed Kidney Metals Program.   To find out how to recycle old metal (that can’t be made to “sing”), visit www.recycleforlife.ca

ABC Recycling is a fourth generation family run business headquartered in Burnaby, BC With four locations province-wide and more on the way, the company has expertise in the removal and recycling of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Central to ABC’s working mission is respect for the environment and the communities in which they work. The support they are giving to The Kidney Foundation and ScrapArtsMusic is very much appreciated by the arts community and kidney patients throughout BC.
