A study published in Nephrology Dialysis and Transplantation by a group of Albertan researchers led by Ms. Lianne Barnieh, supported by a Kidney Foundation Allied Health Doctoral Fellowship, explored for the first time in Canada the barriers to living kidney donation for eligible kidney transplant patients. 
A $200,000 grant has been provided by the Government of Alberta to the Kidney Foundation of Canada to establish a Living Organ Donor Expense Reimbursement Program in Alberta. The program will reimburse an Albertan who donates a kidney, partial lung or liver, for some costs associated with the organ donation process.
On May 1, 2010, Kidney Foundation volunteers from around BC participated in the roll out of Recycle for Life, an “umbrella” campaign that links all The Kidney Foundation fundraising programs and patient services together, both visually and through messaging.
In a study funded by The Kidney Foundation and published in JAMA, patients with diabetic nephropathy taking high doses vitamin B showed a decrease in kidney function.
Over 40 volunteers and supporters of The Kidney Foundation of Canada, BC Branch, representing Chapters and community groups from around British Columbia, attended the Foundation's Leadership Weekend held in Richmond, BC on May 1st and 2nd.
