2011 Kidney Walk a Great Success!
$220,000 raised

In 19 BC Communities, walkers, runners and in some cases, paddlers, along with volunteers, organizers, supporters and sponsors made it all happen. $210,000. were raised. So were awareness about the need for more ogran donors, and the number of new organ donor registrations.

Thank you British Columbians. Your enthusiastic participation helped close the gap between the 85% of people who said they were in favour of organ donation and the 17% who have actually signed up. Your financial support will help The Kidney Foundation keep this lifesaving message in front of all people in BC to help the 200,000 British Columbians who have kidney disease.

A Walk to Close The Gap

Did you know…

That 85% of British Columbians surveyed were in favour of organ donation? But only 17% have registered to be organ donors?

This huge gap between “will do” and “did do” is threatening the lives of the 2,800 people in BC on kidney dialysis. They must wait up to 5 years for a new kidney. Some don’t last that long.

The Kidney Foundation is committed to
closing this gap
You can help.

Since 2008, thousands of participants across BC have joined The Kidney Walk. Over $360,000 have been raised to increase organ donation, fund research, provide support for kidney patients and their families, and to educate the public about the importance of kidney health.

And not only that. They had fun doing it. There’s food, entertainment, silent auctions and more. Come on out. Lace up your shoes and join us in August and September at your town’s KIDNEY WALK. Don’t miss out.
