Dr. Alexander obtained his M.D. from the University of Western Ontario and Ph.D. from the University of Toronto. The aim of the project is to understand how a recently discovered hormone, Klotho, increases the activity of transport proteins, enabling them to retain calcium in the blood and thereby preventing the development of kidney stones and osteoporosis.
