Volunteers needed for Communications and Marketing Committee

Would you like to help promote kidney health in Manitoba? Consider using your communications and marketing expertise to get involved with our brand new Communications and Marketing Committee. The deadline to apply is November 30, 2014. If you are interested in this opportunity, please send your resume and a brief cover letter to mferris@kidney.mb.ca.

The Communications and Marketing Committee is responsible for providing support for The Kidney Foundation of Canada – Manitoba Branch’s communication and marketing needs. Your expertise and skills will help us to achieve our vision of “Kidney health, and improved lives for all people affected by kidney disease.” 

Roles and responsibilities

The Committee is responsible for providing support to the Foundation throughout the year for regional events, including writing and editing newsletter and web content; developing print and web advertisements; doing graphic design; taking photos; shooting and editing videos; acting as media spokespersons; expanding social media outreach; developing culturally relevant outreach materials; and other communication/marketing-related requests. Committee members also have a role in developing and carrying out the Foundation’s communications and marketing strategy to increase membership and awareness. 

What we are looking for

We are looking for members from diverse backgrounds and skill sets. We are especially interested in having members on the committee who live with kidney disease and/or who are from populations at higher risk of developing chronic kidney disease. This includes people of Aboriginal, Afro-Caribbean, Asian, and Hispanic descent. We welcome applicants from different regions in Manitoba, including remote communities. You should have access to the Internet to be able to fully take part in your volunteer role. We encourage applicants with the following skills to apply:

  • Editing
  • Event management
  • Graphic design
  • Marketing
  • Photography
  • Powerpoint/Prezi design
  • Proposal writing/development
  • Public relations
  • Public speaking
  • Social media
  • Videography
  • Web design, development, and maintenance
  • Writing
