Roger WharmbyRoger Wharmby

The Kidney Foundation of Canada is delighted to present Roger Wharmby with a 2016 Mary Lou Karley Patient Services Award.

For the past 10 years, Roger has served as leader of the monthly “Coffee Club” at Lakeridge Health, the largest and oldest active support group in Ontario.  Thanks to his devotion and perseverance, the club typically attracts 20 to 30 patients.

Roger is a leader with heart.  Each year, he helps organize a Christmas dinner and a summer barbeque for 200 kidney patients and their families.  He has participated in the Kidney Walks in Oshawa, and was also one of several volunteers who travelled to Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga to talk to staff and patients about starting a peer support group.

Since joining The Kidney Foundation of Canada, Roger has been a wonderful ambassador who has demonstrated the true meaning of excellence.  His strong commitment to the cause and compassion for others make him an invaluable member of our organization.
