The Kidney Foundation of Canada

The 2016 Mary Lou Karley Patient Services Award

In recognition of an individual whose volunteerism, enthusiasm and devotion have demonstrated the true meaning of excellence in service, The Mission Award - Patient Services has been renamed the Mary Lou Karley Patient Services Award. The late Mary Lou Karley, who held numerous leadership positions including National President and Chair of the Patient Services Committee, was appreciated across the country for her tremendous contribution on behalf of The Kidney Foundation of Canada.

This award is presented to an individual or group who merits special recognition for outstanding dedication and/or contribution to The Kidney Foundation Patient Services at a Chapter, Branch or National level.

The Flaman Group of Companies

A 2016 Mary Lou Karley Patient Services Award was presented to the Flaman Group of Companies, a multi-division, family owned and operated company, and also a generous supporter of The Kidney Foundation of Canada’s Northern Alberta and Territories Branch.

Over the years, General Manager, Rocky Amson, and Operations Manager, Mark Kelly, have sponsored the Branch’s fundraising event, the SHABAM Festival, and helped create a fun on-site fitness challenge through the donation of exercise equipment.

The Flaman Group is also committed to assisting the Branch’s Dialysize Program, which encourages intradialytic exercise for kidney patients in order to improve their well-being and overcome their physical limitations. Thanks to the Group’s charitable contributions, the Program now has a treadmill and a leg press machine to benefit individuals during dialysis treatments.

The Kidney Foundation of Canada gratefully acknowledges the extraordinary support of the Flaman Group of Companies.
