Held under the honorary chairmanship of Mr. Stéphane Achard, Executive Vice-President – Commercial Banking and Insurance, National Bank, the event raised $235,000 to improve medical research for kidney disease and support patient’s services.

As a charity, The Kidney Foundation of Canada could not achieve its mission without the generosity of its supporters. It is thanks to all the golfers, sponsors and volunteers that this special edition was a resounding success.

An occasion to celebrate Quebec’s new living donation program

The tournament was also an occasion to celebrate the new Quebec living donation program announced by the Health Minister, Gaétan Barrette, this summer.

The new program, built on the success of a pilot project initiated upon the request of The Kidney Foundation of Canada, Quebec Branch is good news for those affected by kidney disease. Under the leadership of Dr. Michel R. Pâquet, nephrologist at the CHUM and chairman of the Organ and Tissue Donation Committee of The Kidney Foundation of Canada, Quebec Branch, the pilot united five kidney transplant centres to share their knowledge, draw on practices from outside Quebec, and develop best practices in living donations for Quebec.

A living kidney transplant achieves the best long-term outcomes and gives the best quality of life possible to people suffering from end-stage renal disease. The announcement made on August 3rd, is the result of years of work by The Kidney Foundation of Canada and kidney transplant centres.

We look forward to seeing you next year on September 16, 2019 for a new edition of the Kidney Golf Classic!
