Kidney Foundation of Canada across Alberta launching campaign to increase organ donation as Kidney Health Month begins
The statistics are well-known, especially to Canadians waiting for a transplant: there are 4,585 Canadians on the list, and, in 2016, 260 Canadians died while waiting. “It is unacceptable that people are dying as they wait on a list,” says Joyce Van Deurzen, Executive Director, Kidney Foundation of Canada (Southern Alberta). “Today, we are proud to formally launch our More Transplants campaign across Alberta on behalf of those who are waiting.” Read more. Local family to drop the puck to celebrate organ donation at Medicine Hat Tigers hockey game
When Cassidy Creasy drops the puck at the Tigers game on Saturday March 3, her mom, who is also her kidney donor, will be at her side. Sandy Creasy donated a kidney to her daughter three years ago after Cassidy’s kidneys were damaged by e-coli when she was seven years old. The Medicine Hat family is celebrating Sandy’s kidney donation to Cassidy at a special Tigers game to shine the spotlight on organ donation. Read more.

In celebration of NOTDAW, join us on April 19th for a webinar featuring Dr. John Gill, clinician scientist at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, and Sylvie Charbonneau, President of the Quebec Branch of The Kidney Foundation.
