February is Heart Month in Canada

New Partners Announced for 2017 KRESCENT Competition

New statistics on transplant, organ donation available

The Canadian Institute for Health Information has released its annual dialysis and organ donation statistics, highlighting data that shows the risk of patients being hospitalized is highest in their first week of dialysis, and that patients younger than 18 are at highest risk. Also available is the annual Canadian Organ Replacement Register, 2006 to 2015, which provides annual statistics including data tables and figures, CIHI snapshot, methodology notes and data quality documentation. Families share PKD experience in video series

The Kidney Foundation has developed a series of videos about polycystic kidney disease (PKD) and its impact on families, both those personally affected and those offering love and support. Three families, including that of National President Paul Kidston, share their personal journeys and discuss their engagement with the Foundation. We invite you to meet them.

New Reimbursement Program for Home Hemo-Dialysis Patients

The Kidney Foundation of Canada is pleased that Manitoba patients who treat their kidney disease independently, at home, will now be reimbursed for the extra water and power costs incurred during these treatments. The Province of Manitoba approved proposals submitted by the Nocturnal Home Hemodialysis Patient Action Group and the Manitoba Branch of the Kidney Foundation for this important initiative. The Manitoba Branch will administer the Home Hemo-Dialysis Reimbursement Program. Click here for more info about the New Reimbursement Program for Home Hemo Dialysis Patients
